Volt: Launching a European party in Slovenia
Ljubljana 13/11/2025 - Volt Slovenija held its first press conference at 11h00 in front of the Parliament to announce the intention of registering Volt as a political party. Three members of the founding team introduced Volt, the political priorities and ambitions.

Ljubljana: A city for people or a city for cars?
If we look across Europe, we see metropoles trying to transition into the 21st century and create more liveable cities. Ljubljana and its traffic planning go in the opposite direction: create more space for cars - like with the propose traffic overflow road cutting through Štepanjsko naselje and Nove Fužine already proposed in 2010. We are asking why?

Chat Control: Why is Slovenia just abstaining?
Ljubljana 29/09/2025 - Even though 72% of Europeans oppose chat control, the EU Commission's initiative risks passing in the October 14th member state vote. Considering it is the 3rd attempt to introduce mass surveillance of private digital communications, Volt Slovenia asks why Slovenia only wants to abstain and not vote against the proposal?

The recent 20th Bled Strategic Forum showed three things: (1) the future of the European Union is discussed on and beyond its eastern borders, (2) the largest member states dictate the EU’s foreign policy agenda but are absent and (3) a Forum that can set exclamation marks should not shy away from challenging the status quo.

A referendum on NATO membership - seriously?
Volt Slovenija would have liked the government to push for Eurobonds or European defense integration to allow us to reach 5% or any percentage above 2% of GDP on defense spending while protecting our social welfare state. Instead, the government is holding a referendum on Nato membership - the latest in a series of misuse and disrespect of referendums by parliament.
